Question
1:
Can
I use the Cameo DV to edit single frames captured with a camcorder?
Answer 1:
No, the Cameo DV and the accompanying software are exclusively for
video data. Accordingly, images are imported with a maximum resolution of 720*576
pixels. Camcorders that support still image mode have an extra port (Com/USB)
which can be used to transfer images to the PC. Further info can be found in
your camcorder documentation.
Question
2:
Does
the Cameo DV work with my Camcoder ?
Answer 2:
Unfortunately we dont have the ability to test all the available camcorder
models with the Cameo. Ask your dealer about their return policy before puchasing
in case the Cameo proves to be incompatible with your camcorder model.
Question
3:
Is a camcorder connecting cable included in the package?
Answer 3:
Yes. A 1.80m long cable is included.
Question
4:
Which software/hardware
is recommended to activate the DV Input on my camcorder?
Answer 4:
There are various solutions:
- Activation using the PC serial port and the corresponding software.
- Activation per so-called DV-In Widget. This solution allows the DV-In Widget
to be used as a record button. (Important when the device steering doesn´t
completely support a camcorder model.) We recommend the use of a DV-In widget.
Question
5:
Can the cameo produce MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files?
Answer 5:
With the accompanying Version of MediaStudio (Cameo 400 DV) the MPEG-1 format
can be used (i.e for video CD's). Should you want to use the MPEG-2 format,
an update from Ulead can be obtained. The Cameo 600 DV software bundle has integrated
Mpeg-2 support.
Question
6:
What limitations exist under Windows 9x/NT ?
Answer 6:
The FireWire
port is not supported by Windows 95/NT. The Cameo DV cannot be used with these
operating systems. Limited functionality is possible under Windows 98, but we
offer no support for this configuration!!! We recommend the use of at least
Windows 98SE! (Windows ME and 2000 work as well of course ;-))
Question
7:
Does the software support
16:9 format editing??
Answer 7:
No. The only possibility would be to crop the video and insert the black frame
manually using MediaStudio Pro 6.0 VE. Most devices (TV) should be able to play
the 16:9 format.
Question
8:
I would like to use the Cameo
DV uder Linux and need to know which chip is used.
Answer 8:
The Cameo DV uses either the IEEE-1394 chipset from Texas Instrumens (TSB12LV26)
or a VIA (VT 6306) chipset.
Question
9:
Are AMD Duron/Athlon processors supported?
Answer 9:
We are not aware of any limitations with these processors.
Question
10:
Can another editing software (i.e
Ulead Video Studio 4 or 5, Pinnacle Studio DV unplugged or Premiere) be installed
and used with the Cameo DV as well?
Answer 10:
- Ulead VideoStudio
version 4 and up works perfectly with the Cameo DV.
- Pinnacle Studio DV unplugged/Premiere have not been tested, though the system specifications given require an OHCI-compatible IEEE 1394 controller (as with the Cameo DV).
Question
11:
Does the Cameo DV support PAL and
NTSC systems?
Answer 11:
The Cameo
DV doesn´t care what format is used, but the software has to be suited
to the format. The included Ulead Video Studio software supports NTSC as well
as PAL. Should you want to use another program, make sure it supports the format
you are using. Format conversion between NTSC und PAL leads to extreme quality
loss because the framerate and the resolution must be changed.
